Privacy Policy

Your family's information is precious to us. Here's exactly what we collect through this website, why, where it goes, and the choices you have.

Effective July 15, 2026

The short version

We only collect the details you type into our tour or registration forms, we use them only to reply to you about that inquiry, and we don't share them with anyone outside Discovery Child Care. You can ask us any time what we hold and to correct or delete it.

Who this policy is for

This policy applies to visitors to this website and to families who submit a Book a Tour request or an online Registration form. It's written by Discovery Child Care (the daycare) for the families we serve in downtown Calgary.

What we collect, and why

When you submit a tour request, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Email and phone number
  • Your child's age range
  • Days and times that work for you to visit
  • Anything else you'd like us to know (optional notes)

We use this to confirm your tour and follow up if we need more details.

When you submit a registration, we collect:

  • Your child's full name and date of birth
  • The program you're interested in
  • Parent or guardian name, email, and phone number
  • Your home address
  • Preferred start date and schedule (full-time or part-time)
  • Whether you plan to apply for the Alberta subsidy

We use this to process your enrollment inquiry, to plan for your child's start, and to follow up with the welcome packet and any remaining forms.

Where your information goes

When you submit a form, it goes to two places: an email to the daycare's inbox so we see it right away, and a secure database that backs the website so nothing is lost if an email misfires. Only Ms. Elna and the Discovery Child Care staff who handle enrollment can see it.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing.

How long we keep it

If you're inquiring but don't enroll, we keep your details only as long as we need them to respond, and we'll delete them sooner if you ask. If your child enrolls, we keep records for the duration of their care with us, plus the record-keeping period Alberta child care licensing requires.

Your rights under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA)

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask for a copy of it
  • Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • Ask us to delete it (unless we're required to keep it for licensing reasons)
  • Withdraw your consent at any time

Submitting a form is your consent for us to contact you about that specific inquiry. You're not signing up for a newsletter or marketing - we simply don't do that.

What we don't do

To be transparent about what this website does not do today:

  • No analytics or tracking tools are installed on this site.
  • No advertising cookies or ad networks.
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of your information with third parties for marketing.

If any of that ever changes, we'll update this page and note the change before it takes effect.

Children's information

We only collect information about a child from the parent or guardian, as part of an enrollment inquiry. Children don't submit forms on this site themselves.

How we keep it safe

Form submissions are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The database that stores them requires authentication and is only accessible to Discovery Child Care. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No online service can promise perfect security, so we ask you to please let us know right away if you suspect a problem.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be called out clearly.
